NeoMed Medfusion v6 3500 Enteral Ready Pump

From the syringe pump to feeding tube, NeoMed delivers an Enteral Safety Solution designed to meet clinical best practice recommendations.

NeoMed announces a partnership with Smiths Medical to distribute an enteral-ready Medfusion 3500 V6 syringe pump, with NeoMed enteral library and orange faceplate. The enteral-ready Medfusion pump used with NeoMed’s comprehensive enteral system provides an Enteral Safety Solution designed to meet clinical best practice recommendations for patient safety. Delivering a complete Enteral Safety Solution has never been more economical. Special programs are available that combine the SafeBaby® Nutrition Management System with the enteral only NeoMed Medfusion® 3500 pump and NeoMed enteral devices. Please contact your local NeoMed representative for further details.

  • According to NANN’s Enteral Safety Recommendations, ADA’s Infant Feeding Guidelines, and ISMP’s Nurse Advise-ERR, clinicians should use dedicated syringe pumps to deliver enteral feeds. NeoMed’s Enteral Safety System color coordinates with the distinct orange faceplate, offering visual differentiation from common parenteral or IV lines.
  • The enteral-ready Medfusion 3500 V6 syringe pump has a NeoMed enteral library that recognizes validated NeoMed Oral/Enteral Syringes. This helps protect against possible “off-label use” from non-validated syringes.
  • Special programs are available that combine the SafeBaby® Nutrition Management System with the enteral only NeoMed Medfusion® 3500 pump and NeoMed enteral devices. Please contact your local NeoMed representative for further details.

"When using syringe pumps in NICU, pumps should be clearly distinct from syringe pumps used for IV medications. Ideally, they should be different in appearance, different model, color, etc.”
Staebler, Suzanne. Enteral Feeding Misconnections in the NICU: A Continuing Patient Safety Threat. Advances in Neonatal Care. 2013; 13: 447-453.

"Use distinctly different pumps for IV applications (rather than using similar pumps for intrathecal and/or epidural applications) to reduce the possibility that an intrathecal medication will accidentally be delivered intravenously and vice versa."
The Joint Commission. “Managing Risk during Transition to New ISO Tubing Connector Standards. Sentinel Event Alert 53 (2014).
