Woodstock, GA – June, 2011 – NeoMed, Inc. introduces the NeoBottle; the first closed-system container that combines collection, storage, fortification and delivery of fresh human breast milk (HBM) or enteral/oral liquids through a single device. Featuring collapsible floor technology and a unique airtight, leak-proof lid, the NeoBottle may extend the shelf life of fresh HBM or oral liquids by allowing users to evacuate excess air reducing the risks of oxidization and exposure to bacteria prior to delivery. Per the American Dietetic Association (ADA): “Fresh milk that is unit-dosed at time of expression may be held at refrigerated temperatures for up to 96 hours if expressed under clean conditions and the container is not entered prior to infant feeding. This is particularly important for small volume, fresh milk feedings for ill or preterm high-risk infants.”[1] The NeoBottle is specifically designed to meet this recommendation.
Tony Lair, President & CEO of NeoMed stated: “We recognize that proper handling is a critical component for preserving and delivering fresh HBM. Many preemie to micro-preemie patients rely on fresh HBM to mitigate dangerous feeding intolerances, gut diseases and notably NEC. This revolutionary new device provides a cost effective solution for mothers, clinicians and pharmacists to safely manage and preserve any type of oral liquid.”
